Coronavirus and Steroid injections

The use of steroid injections in musculoskeletal medicine is a standard of treatment, but recent events with Covid has asked questions of these.

Specifically concern has been raised around increased infection risk of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and the risk to people who have had steroid injections. This has changed the position of most providers such that injection is now considered available but full conversation about risk and other treatment choices should be considered strongly. The Faculty of Pain Medicine have released a statement below which is posted here for your information. Dr Thomas has always considered steroid injections on an individual basis, mindful of risk and the effects on the immune system and is practising in line with the current guidance.
